One of the benefits of sponsoring a child is that you have the opportunity to make a connection with that child through letters, photos, and small gifts. Those items are hand-delivered by our teams when they travel on one of our annual mission trips.

For those choosing to send gifts, please note the following guidelines:

1. You will be notified approximately two months before the appropriate trip as a      reminder to send your gift to our office no later than four weeks before we leave.

2. Your gift should fit into a gallon-size zip-lock bag. In the past, we have allowed shoe boxes, but due to limited space, we ask you to use a bag. Also, because the gifts are carried in the suitcases of the team traveling down, and those suitcases have a 50 lb. limit, please keep weight in mind when you choose items for your child.

3. Some suggested items to send include: soap and washcloth, toothbrush and toothpaste, socks, t-shirts, hair accessories for girls, small stuffed animals or dolls, matchbox cars, balls, and jump ropes. Because of the lack of dental care in Haiti, we ask that you do not send candy.

4. Because we need to check the contents of the bag, please do not seal it. Do write the child’s name and number clearly on the bag with a permanent marker.

5. Do include a letter for your child. We have translators available to read the letters, and the children are always excited to hear from their sponsor families. They enjoy seeing photos of their sponsor families as well.

Thank you for being part of our child sponsorship program. Your giving is truly making a difference in the lives of these children!
