What are some of your bright ideas for getting children sponsored?

What has worked well for you:
Vera Sytch - Speaking at churches, ask to opportunities to speak at churches in your area
Jane Renzelmann - Going to missions fairs
Terry Renzelmann - Coming off a mission trip is a great time to speak to people about sponsoring a child
Dotti Digeronamo - Going on a mission trip and talking to people when you return
Scott Long - When you come off a trip, make your stories personal about specific children you met on your trip. Keep your stories direct and personal

I spoke at Kalyna's church in Massachusetts and got 5 more children sponsored. Would have gotten even more if we'd had more cards with us!! Get me more churches to speak in and I'll get more sponsors!!!

I have had some success at just posting the photos on facebook and giving a little blurb about each child! I also carry the envelope with children in it with me because for some odd reason (only God knows...haha), people seem to ask me if they can sponsor a child when I begin to talk about Haiti. I recently got a child sponsored (my last in my packet of 5) sitting next to a gal on the airplane this past week on my way to Arizona! The gal's eyes filled with tears as I told her about my trip, what I had seen and witnessed and learned, and she shared that she did not have any children and said that this was her "answer." You just never know! And of course, pray, pray, pray....God will bring the people across your path, as well. By the way, I have found a new friend in "the gal on the airplane" and we are meeting for coffee and I will have the blessed opportunity of now sharing Christ with her. Such delight!!
